Grand Hotel 1911

I already yammered about my weekend in a locked post, so I'm just going to post pictures. And brief commentary.

We took most of our photos in the Grand Hotel gardens, mostly because they're pretty and the inside of it isn't.

Mr. Esch (aka Julie's dad) took these; I saw him back there behind the flower beds, but didn't realize what was going on until after.

I didn't actually mean to sit down for this, but as we were discussing the debatable cleanliness of the bench, which turned out to be clean, by the way, my heels sunk into the soft lawn and I had two choices: Sit or fall.

I love that fountain.

Fortunately, I didn't get water spots from this.

I kind of like this one.

This looks kind of dignified and/or artsy, but I was actually busy counting windows on the hotel.

Round Island in the background--my favorite Straits-area lighthouse.

We had a five-course dinner, including dessert. Left top clockwise: raspberry panna cotta, cheesecake trio with kumquat and blood orange sauce, pecan ball, and creme brulee.

I was kind of afraid I wouldn't be able to get the back-combing out of my hair at the end of the night, so I told Julie that in case of emergency, she should just pour the rest of my bottle of conditioner over my head and run away.
The End!
Oh, and for those of you that wondered what my new haircut looks like...

Also, I went shooting with Matt on Sunday.
