I bought stuff. Big surprise!

So, I went to a Civil War reenactment (though I do use the term loosely) in Jackson this weekend. The site was...fine, but the shopping was quite good. Above are a couple of the buttons I bought for the slowly-progressing plaid day bodice.

A straight-on shot of the buttons. Which are not, in fact, as old as the sutler who sold them to me said they were, but they're far and away prettier than anything I've been able to find locally, so who really cares? Not I, said the mouse!

I also bought a new pair of earrings. Most of what I own is for 18th century, so I wanted something that "reads" a little later.

Another shot for scale. Mike laughed at me when he saw them--"They go with what you have on!" he said. What can I say? I am nothing if not consistent!

I also bought some fine cotton lace, for use on either a corset cover or another low-necked chemise like the one I wear under my ballgown. We'll see which I get to first.

Not purchased in Jackson, but beautiful nonetheless. I actually inquired about this lovely piece of antique whitework before leaving for the weekend and received notification that it was just awaiting payment when I got back. So now it's mine, and I'm super excited about it!

Oh - I love everything! Buttons, earrings (WANT!), and whitework - so pretty!

The earrings are from The Jeweler's Daughter (http://www.jewelersdaughter.com), and they have some really nice stuff. The lady I talked to was super nice, too, and didn't mind my babbling about finding jewelry to go with my ballgown. I'm super excited about the other stuff, too, because I never have that good of luck when I'm sourcing materials with something already in mind...but both items are exactly what I wanted!

What great finds! The buttons will be great on that dress.

I love those buttons. They're plastic, I think, but you can't tell from the front and they're just what I had in mind, so score! XD
