Feb. 10th, 2004 04:57 pmWow. Pre-festival? Yeah.
It was great!! :D
No, seriously. I mean, I expected it to be a bloodbath. True, we weren't good, you could tell we were nervous, we rushed, and all that sort of stuff, but it wasn't bad at all. And the guy who had us for the clinic afterwards did SUCH a good job; it was soooo helpful! It just went and showed us all that if someone expects us to be good, we'll shape up and do it. I felt sorry for Mr. Cathcart afterward, though, because he was really kind of beating up on himself. He got to see all these experienced band directors in action today and I think he's kind of like...whoooaa. We're all going to shape up now, I think, 'cause this was kind of a wakeup call. We got a II, but we have time now, and we know where we're at with the objective numbers now. Big help.
Oh. And that fever that my dad said I "didn't have" this morning? Yeah. I had it. It broke sometime after 8:00. Funny how if I didn't have it, it couldn't have broken, eh? Well, fever or no, I would've gone to pre-festival anyway so I suppose it didn't really make a difference. Except that I was contagious after all, so my classmates are all gonna get sick. Oops. It was actually kind of nice when the fever broke, though, 'cause I went from feeling reaaally crappy to reaaally chipper in the space of about two seconds. Very weird feeling.
It sure took the ibuprofen long enough to break that fever, though. I must've been up and around for 30 to 45 minutes before it helped. Which basically meant that even though I was at school by a quarter to eight, I just sat in the hall feeling ill til we left at eight. I did have the presence of mind to ask people (Dan, Eliza, Andy, Ben, Jill...random people walking by in the hall...pretty much everyone I saw) to pray for us (and my friends to pray for me specifically, too), though, and God heard 'em all, 'cause things went amazingly well. I mean--my fever broke before we even got to the hosting school, we played a TON better than I expected, and the clinic was awesome. How cool is that? We got back to school and Dan Hosteter asked me, "Are you feeling any better? Because I prayed for you like three times while you guys were gone, like you asked me to." I thought that was really sweet. :D Thanks, Dan! It worked!
Oh, and speaking of band, there's a pep band tonight. I have to go. Because nobody else is willing to lead it. And they're making me direct the National Anthem again. *facepalm* D'oh. People, I am sick. I am not interested in going anywhere. Though I suppose pep band is better than Tae Kwon Do, since my balance is shot due to my ears being all out of whack. Just generally not cool at all.
Right. I'm going after food now. Keep your stick on the ice.
