I finally sat down and made a list of places from which I like to order fabric. It's not an exhaustive list of anywhere I've ever ordered anything, but it's some of the top hits.

List over here at my blog!

Now...everyone go buy some fabric! Share the love! *rolls around in yardage*

Parchment crocuses from Spencer's Mercantile, purchased at Fort Erie.

The white ones will be used on the next incarnation of the Civil War ballgown. The colored ones were bought simply because they're a) maroon...sort-of, and b) pretty. I figured they'd probably go nicely on a hat. Maybe 18th century. More photos under the cut!

Speaking of hats... )

So yeah...yay, pictures, and please--thoughts on the hat ribbons! I'm undecided.

Oh, and as a bonus, the crocuses were photographed sitting on the flounces of that petticoat I was talking about, since I had it laid out in the work area already (aka, the living room).

Uh. I lied.

So, I know I said I was trying to use up fabric I already had, but I got back from training in Spring Arbor this afternoon and didn't want to just go home, so I went swatch shopping instead. I'm thinking in terms of that I'm not going to be able to get away with not going to any more Civil War events and then [livejournal.com profile] nuranar was talking about her wrapper and [livejournal.com profile] reine_de_coudre posted pictures of hers and...

Whatever. I'm looking at fabric, and I wanted opinions on prints:

[livejournal.com profile] superiorcap has already weighed in with a "good!" on the maroon and a "don't know" on the blue. And told me to post on LJ for those more knowledgeable than I to see, so that's what I'm doing.

Look what I got in the mail today! (Well, okay, FedEx, but still). Look slightly familiar?
Look here..

(Yes, I realize it's the "wrong color," but it's maroon. Purple-maroon, but still maroon. It's my color! I'm way more likely to wear this than I am terra cotta on light yellow/gold.)

Does anyone here even want first crack at my fabric stash, or should I just haul the whole lot over to the ebay-for-me place by my bank and tell them to deal with it and cut me a check later?

Some of it is marginally period, some of it is for-costume-use-only blends or synthetics, for the record.

ETA:On the bright side, if I find a random sixty dollars lying around someplace, I picked out my new garment rack on Amazon.com. Again, I reiterate, not that I have the space for it.
