Well, it's certainly been a week of it. Where to begin? Well, last Saturday, I slammed my finger in my car door. Which in and of itself isn't terribly fascinating, but it sure turned some interesting colors afterwards.

I'm probably going to lose part of the nail, but it hurts less now than when I cut my thumb open and for that I'm grateful. It hurt a hell of a lot more when I actually did it, though. I don't actually remember there being much pain from cutting myself. This hurt like the dickens. Then it went numb and the whole rest of my arm hurt in sympathy. It felt better by that evening, though, and again I'm grateful because the next day, Gwendolyn and I went to Greenfield Village for their Civil War weekend.

And a few more, plus text. But just a little text, I promise. )

Then I came home to a week of sewing, the mundane life of a retail worker, and the excitement of a double shift when a coworker called in sick.

Also, I've finished up through book 12 in the Aubreyad, and am working my way through The Thirteen Gun Salute. That's twelve books of approximately 300 pages each in one month. I have a problem. But oh, what a delightful problem it is!

Holy crap.

Okay, in order to fully understand me, here, you have to understand one thing: I am an IDIOT with small electronics. I'm pretty good with computers, but usually only because we have a cautiously suspicious relationship with each other. Other appliances? Forget it. If I want to watch a DVD on the TV set, I hand the remote to Holly. "Here, could you set that up for me?" When I bought my cell phone, I ordered it online and it was shipped to my house, where Holly opened the packaging and set it up for me before bringing it to Mackinaw City for me. I break office equipment simply by walking into the room. And game systems? FORGET IT. It took me half an hour (with Tyler's help) to figure out the Wii when we visited Kate a few weeks back.

That explanation aside, we got new cable TV yesterday. It's...well, I think it's digital cable. I don't really know, because once again--MORON at small electronics. There's a brand-new box sitting on top of the TV now, and that's how you change the channels. That's all I know, except for the fact that now we get a hell of a lot more channels than I've ever had before in my life. We have TOON DISNEY. TOON! DISNEY!

One problem, though. I am terrified of the remote control. It's a monster; literally, it's the length of my forearm. And there are all sorts of buttons that have labels that MAKE NO SENSE. I mean...gah? I had to have Holly turn the TV on for me before she left for her play this evening and show me how to navigate the channels because otherwise I'd be home alone with no clue how to even make the TV turn on, much less change the channel. *FLAIL* TOO MANY CHOICES. TAKE ME BACK TO RUSSIA!

Gwendolyn ([livejournal.com profile] lachwen), Mike, Andrew, Tyler, Julie, and I (with some of Julie's friends) went to a Regency(ish) ball in Ann Arbor. I think we were probably the most "period," but it looked like everyone had a good time, so it didn't really matter. I only took one video because I was dancing most of the rest of the time, but I took a lot of stills. However, I'm not posting those here until I have a chance to clean them up a bit. There's a lot of red-eye issues due to the low light, so I'll crop some down and Photobucket them later. Right now, I'm going to bed.

It was great! :)

P.S. If anyone knows the name of that song, tell me. Tyler and I were trying to think of it all weekend and didn't come up with anything.
