The Regency Exhibition ball folks finally broke down and bought their own domain name (though it redirects) at www.regencyexhibitionball.com. The ticket purchase is still done through The Dressmaker's Shop, and tickets will be on sale through March 20.

And if you're reading this, you should go! It's a fun event, and it seems to get better each year. Hope to see you ther!

Someone posted a few new pictures of the Regency Exhbition Ball!

That's just an oversized thumbnail; click for the full image.

Couple of things:
  • That dress looks lovely in that photo! Way better than I thought it did.
  • I actually really like that you can't see faces. Ours, anyway.
  • Either I'm shorter than I think I am, or Mike is taller than I think he is. Or maybe both.
  • I'm smaller than I think I am, too. I felt like a steamboat in that dress, but I don't look that big. Yay! :)

Regency Exhibition Ball 2009: Lansing, MI
  • In the car moving by 10:03 a.m. as per Mike McCarty's orders.
  • Went to The Dressmaker's Shop in Leslie with [livejournal.com profile] lachwen and Mike.
  • Went to Mike's parents' house, wrapped Gwendolyn in duct tape, got ready for ball.
  • Went to ball, saw Julie.
  • Danced lots.
  • Had fun.

I'll probably sit down and type up my customary blow-by-blow later, just for my own reference, but for now, enjoy!

Photos! )

Now that my I-have-an-event-every-weekend month of March is over, maybe I can go clean my apartment and go grocery shopping and all those sorts of things! I wouldn't have traded any of it for the world, though. Good events, great friends, wonderful times. And some pretty nice pictures, too.

Since it seems that it falls to me to do event coordination and summaries:

We went to another Regency ball last night! )

After the dance, we went back to Mike's parents' house and spent the night, where Gwendolyn and I shared one of the nicer beds I've ever slept in. And his parents woke up early with us and made us breakfast and were overwhelmingly nice. We drove back early, to get Gwendolyn to work, Mike & I shopped around at Field's a little, and then he took me home, where I promptly fell asleep for four hours to try and beat a little of that sleep debt from Wednesday night/Thursday morning.

Keep an eye on [livejournal.com profile] lachwen for another update on the event. Also, I'll be putting up a page on KatieJacobs.com for the new dress shortly!

I've been absolutely horrible at keeping in contact for the past week, week and a half. I haven't returned any calls, posts, or messages, and for that I apologize. However, I have an excuse.

Last night, a group of my friends and I went to the 2nd annual Regency Exhibition Ball in Lansing, MI. Part of the reason I was so stressed was that I made my sister a dress semi-last-minute so that she could come with us. Our whole group was pretty wiped out, but having sorted out the aftermath, it sounds like everyone had a really good time. We're looking forward to next year!

Lots more, plus videos! )

And the other couple of videos )

This is my progress so far. I have the bodice lining staring at me accusingly from the arm of my chair as I speak, so I should probably get on that.

And....go! )

ETA: O hai! I suppose I should ought to mention sometime that I actually have an official website now. I mean, like, with my own domain. I'm at www.katiejacobs.com. And there's actually content! And it doesn't look as nice if you don't use Firefox, so beware.

Gwendolyn ([livejournal.com profile] lachwen), Mike, Andrew, Tyler, Julie, and I (with some of Julie's friends) went to a Regency(ish) ball in Ann Arbor. I think we were probably the most "period," but it looked like everyone had a good time, so it didn't really matter. I only took one video because I was dancing most of the rest of the time, but I took a lot of stills. However, I'm not posting those here until I have a chance to clean them up a bit. There's a lot of red-eye issues due to the low light, so I'll crop some down and Photobucket them later. Right now, I'm going to bed.

It was great! :)

P.S. If anyone knows the name of that song, tell me. Tyler and I were trying to think of it all weekend and didn't come up with anything.

Why this counts as a potential disaster )

(She's nodding at me as I type this, so I'm assuming what I'm saying is pretty accurate.) On the other hand, if anyone falls in love with that color and wants to buy it for the price of six yards of blue silk taffeta, we could negotiate.
