Jan. 2nd, 2005 07:02 pmI found a trim that might work for the gold down the center of Eowyn's Victory gown, or even for the. I'll probably never get to do that one, but I'm kind of thinking I like it a lot for Renaissance Faire. Anyway, here's the trim:
Byzantine circle something-or-other It would need the colored gems added, but that's kind of to be expected. I'm tempted to order a few yards "just in case," but that's not so wise.
What does everyone else think? I'm tempted, so very tempted, to make a silk or cotton version of the dress, so that I don't have to wear polyester to yet another Faire and sweat myself to death...and I love the blue...Gah.
Bad, bad Katie. Use up your current stash first!

You come to GR sometimes? Cool! Sewing marathon would rock...I'd just need to actually *pick* a project. :P Ay, there's the rub.

Date: 2005-01-03 06:47 pm (UTC)I'm terrible about buying fabric even when I don't have time for the project. I have every piece of fabric I need for Arwen's blood red dress, but no time and no event for it. I'm also dying to make a Gondorian commoner's costume and even have some linen on hand that I want to use for the project. Again, no time and no event. (Okay, so I do have CC23 and Costume College and a GBACG event that's being planned, but time is still a serious factor since my thesis isn't done yet. I guess the major problem is just that the LOTR costumes have so much competition with my historical projects.) I bet you, though, if we locked ourselves in a sewing room for a week, feeding off each other's costume energy, we could get a lot accomplished.
I always hated spending money on books too (of course, my tuition was a LOT higher than the cost of my books, but it still hurts the wallet). It actually gets a little better once you get your gen.ed. out of the way--for some reason those books seem to cost a lot more, or there are more of them, or something. Also, you start to get to know people who have taken the classes before who can loan you books or sell them to you for a serious discount (especially people in your major).
