ktlovelyOkay, so, I'm feeling a little better today. I've been acting a little weird, but that might be the vicodin. Who knows? I'll be off it soon, anyway, I hope, so that's probably not a big issue. I've been eating a lot of ramen and easy mac and I discovered that if you suck on little pieces of cookie it makes them soft enough to be bearable.
I cut out and patern-fit my new Eowyn underdress pattern today. It's nowhere near as full as Simplicity's generic elf pattern. That bothers me a little bit, and I want to make it a bit fuller, but I'm not sure I'll have enough fabric. I'm going to try and do the muslin tomorrow, though, so we'll see then. Also, this is going to be something of a prototype, since I'm not sure that I want to be wandering around the Silver Leaf Renn Faire in the middle of July in a polyester dress. That doesn't sound like my idea of a real good time, if you know what I mean. I may be able to go back and find some cotton gauze or seersucker or something later on. This current silkessence one will make a pretty fall/spring dress if it works out well enough.
The good news here is that I think I'll have enough of the brown linen to completely or almost-completely line the surcoat. That way I don't have to worry about facings or anything. Just sew it together around the neck and arm holes and flip it right-side-out. It'll make it sturdier for the eyelets, too. I'll try and do the muslin for that tomorrow, too.
The car's still MIA...poor Willy. I miss having the station wagon. I hope they get the engine in soon. (The car started making even funnier noises than usual and had to get his engine completely replaced--muy expensivo, but we're charging it to the JoAnn's card and thus getting some money back in fabric-store credit. Woohoo!)
CRAP, I just remembered--I have to fill out a timecard for last week. So that I get paid. So that I can go spend more money on cloth. Go me. XP I'm such a nerd. I'm actually saving most of it--but still.
