Harvest Ball 09

No epistle-like event summary; I'm too tired and apparently have the swine flu, so I'm just putting up pictures.
lachwen put a little bit up about it, plus a couple pictures of both herself and Mike. These are all her photos--my camera fails at low-light situations. I just used peer pressure and common thievery to get her to put them online so fast, and to steal some for myself.

Ballgown Version 2. Complete success.

White and blue silk taffeta, trimmed with black lace. The bodice is lined with white cotton sateen and trimmed with an overlay of silk organza, flatlined with cotton organdy for opacity. The waist is more of the white taffeta, mounted straight to the lining.

So, taking those classic Myspace self-pictures is really hard in that Civil War dropped-shoulder silhouette. No bruises on my arms this time, though, except for the spot where Mike accidentally pinched me when I asked him to adjust my sleeves.

I am so happy with how the neckline on this dress fits. There was pretty much no gapping, no slipping, no riding up...I hardly even noticed it, which is the best option. Also, I love the whitework lace on the bertha. It's debatably my favorite part of the whole outfit--it's antique lace from Em's Heart. I am absolutely delighted with it. It's exactly what I wanted, and it's the only thing that was exactly what I wanted that I found the entire time I was sourcing materials for this dress. Ridiculously satisfying!

One lady approached us after the last dance while we were taking pictures upstairs (not, incidentally, this picture) and told us we stole the show with our pretty dresses and good dancing.

Uh...another side view? I basically went through and looted Gwendolyn's photos for anything that I might use on my website, resized them all, and am throwing them haphazardly on the internet before my plaguey self collapses for the night. Sorry guys.

This was afterwards, when we went upstairs to take pictures. I got my hairpiece stuck on the window, but it was a great place to sit anyway.

I love these people. I'd love them even without the funny clothes, but that just makes it more fun.

The end. This is probably my favorite photo of the lot, and is now my desktop background.
