I refuse to post the rules. Basically? Everybody likes cute baby pictures. Go post yours!

According to my mother I was a smiley baby.

Too bad I didn't stay this cute.

Generic cute baby-finds-feet photo.

So apparently, my parents noticed that whenever they would drive into the parking structure of their building and it would get dark in the car, I would go all bug-eyed on them. Being engineers, they of course turned to science and experimented to see if I would do this all the time. This photo was obtained by placing my car seat in a lighted hallway, and then my dad quickly flipped the lights off and my mom snapped a picture. Lo and behold--wide-eyed baby. And now when I say "I was raised by two engineers," you can think of this.

I was apparently ecstatic about this. I actually own that chair now, although it's no longer orange velvet.

My first reaction to this was, "I still sleep like that!"

I do not, however, still sleep like this. And if you ever doubted nature vs. nurture--we have a photo of my sister also sleeping like this, though she was too young to ever have observed me doing so. Genetics + brain chemistry FTW! Anyway, my parents called it the "breaking the tape" pose, like a runner crossing the finish line, I guess.

Also in the category of "raised by engineers," when I say that they started us on computers early on, I mean it literally. I believe this was at one point sent to my grandmother with the caption, "Don't worry grandma, I'll show you!" or something equally nauseating.

I think this one might be my favorite.

And this is my mom's favorite. This I know is after we moved to Baroda, and Holly was walking, so I was at least three, maybe four. The rest, I believe, are all from when we still lived in Minnesota.

And lest it seem that I'm a total daddy's girl* and that I don't like...have a mother, here's a picture of me, with my mom. Plus a bonus one of dad & Holly, because I didn't feel like cropping them apart.

*Which...I am. Or more accurately, I am my dad, only shorter and with a nicer rack. But in terms of personality? Freakishly similar. Except for the engineering part.

When I was home at Thanksgiving, I found a picture of me sitting at the sewing machine at about the age of maybe about three with material under the feeder foot. When I showed this picture to some of the local costuming people, they go, don't tell me it doesn't start young....:) It's nice looking at the pictures of when we were young, I think. And you were very cute.

That's so cute, sewing as a wee tiny one! :) We've had computers around since before I can remember, though I wasn't allowed to play with the sewing machine until later.
