Nov. 23rd, 2003 05:05 pmGot a bunch of construction done on the Requiem. Mostly basting and pinning, and I have to unpick the side seams in order to lay the thing flat so I can trace the curve of the neckline for trim shaping, but it goes together well. As ALWAYS, I have trouble setting in the sleeves. It works out, though. I've also decided that I have to line this, because of all the embroidery on the inside. I just can't stand the thought of having put in all those hours of work and then having the backside of the embroidery catch on my hands or something while I'm dressing and start falling out. The very thought makes me want to scream or weep. This means I have to go find some muslin or something comfortable to line it with, since I don't like the idea of having two layers of polyester. Not that I don't like this crepe, in fact, I really do enjoy working with it...but spending 3 hours in a sold-out theater (or most likely sold out) in two layers of polyester crepe under a velvet overdress doesn't sound like my idea of a real fun time. Off to find something dark to line it with. Or maybe I can be naughty and put something really bright and sassy inside? Kind of like how wearing colorful undies makes me feel daring without ever having done anything? Hee!
