Your Disney love song is If I Never Knew You from
Pocahontas (though it was tragically cut from
the movie). It's a sad song about a love so
strong that it's worth dying for.

I vaguely recall hearing it somewhere. Can't remember where though, and I really do think it got cut...argh. Anyone want to try to find it for me?
I got my blue skirt cut out and pinned together. Used less than 5 yards, which is good. Still have 5 yards left, so if I don't like it I can make the skirt into the shirt and redo the skirt from the remaining 5. Also, the silkessence is rather, erm, thin. I think I'm going to have to wear that white skirt mom bought underneath it as sort of a petticoat, or something. It drapes nicely and all, but it's a tiny bit gauzy. I guess I'll wait to see how it works by itself and then decide.
Didn't get the hobbit bodice muslin-ed today, because I slept most of the afternoon. We went to church and all three of the ladies--mom, Holly, and I--all had some sort of allergic reaction. Our eyes burned, mine so much so that it gave me a headache. It hung on through lunch, so I laid down to see if I could shake it. Got rousted to talk to Terri and Jess on the phone twice, but after that I fell asleep and slept til almost seven. Meep! Anyway, hopefully I can get that mocked-up tomorrow.
For the blouse, I was thinking of ordering Silkconnection.com's cotton gauze. Actually, I wasn't thinking of it before tonight, when I found it. However, I haven't been able to find anything like that in any of our local fabric stores, and I WON'T be able to at least until they start getting summer fabrics in...and maybe not even then. Til I find something or order that stuff from SilkConnection, though, my ren faire blouse will do. It has long sleeves and lacks a gathered neck, but I mean, hobbit lasses have to wear something warm in the winter, don't they? They don't get the cool frock coats that male hobbits do! Shawls work, but I have a decided problem with managing them. They usually end up in the soup, because I am very uncoordinated.
Also, I find question No. 9 on the SilkConnection FAQ page very amusing for some reason.
Oops, I just stumbled across a page that said their minimum order is $20. Huh. Guess I'll have to go somewhere else. At least now I know what I'm looking for. Unless someone's interested in splitting a few yards of cotton gauze with me? I'd be tempted to get some silk velvet for my Requiem dress if I didn't have to dye it myself--that's been forbidden at my house for some completely UNKNOWN reason, perhaps because my mother is a bit crazy sometimes. Also, I'm accident prone and would probably end up accidentally dyeing the laundry or kitchen sink or some such nonsense.
I like cotton velvet...even though elves aren't supposed to smell like sizing. They're also supposed to wear silk, but dangit, I have a budget! And I DO like my velvet Requiem overdress even if it smells like funky fabric. I'm renaming my site "Because Elves Don't Smell Like Sizing" if I ever update again. Either that or "Magpi (something or other artsy here--loft? Studio? This is a pun that I blame on my math teacher?)"
I'm tired. Does it show yet? ARGH, but I can't SLEEP!
I'm going to go type up some fiction drivel and then try to sleep. Good MORNING (cough), all.
