As they say, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em.

I out-perked the perky today. I think I frightened several of my classmates. ("Katie, you're...giddy...")

I blame my dad. I was talking to him last night, still upset over what's been going on at school. I told him if I had to go in and bear Jess and them being all perky one more time... He responded, "Well, why don't you just out-perk them all?" "Okay!" I said. And I did.

It was rather disturbing. Actually, it made my day go well; it was disturbing for the people who have me stereotyped as the cranky sarcastic chick.

Speaking of stereotype, I think I made Joel Barber's brain have to reboot today. He was standing by Andy's locker, waiting for Andy to be ready to leave. Andy and I were talking about what we had to do this evening. He was complaining about a page and a half of research paper he has to write for Physics. "I have to go to the mall!" I told him, mock-horrified. Joel jumped in and asked, "So?"

"I hate the mall!" I cried. I really do, too. Icky.

"But...you're a girl." Joel informed me. (Thanks kid, I forgot ;D)

"Yeah...and?" I asked. I could see his brain not grasping the fact that there was such a thing as a girl who didn't like the mall. "Andy, do you want to explain this to him?" (He and I have the same ideas about malls--five minutes a month, tops.)

"It's comercialized secularism," Andy told him. I nodded.

I think this was the point where Joel's brain went Does...not..compute...girl+mall≠like...cannot...comprehend...system error, this program will be forced to shut down...*blue screen of death*...*reboot* "Oka...ay..."

Ah-tee-hee-hee.

Malls are fun to go insane within. Too expensive for anything else.

Hehe, what is this, I give you permission to post and you feel like you gotta comment on everything? Geesh, gimme the duct tape! ;) I'm kidding. Just, please, remember, things are not like they were a year ago, okay? Please. I don't want to have to pull out again, so, moderation please.

I had to get jewelry for homecoming, otherwise I would never would've gone w/o being bound and gagged.

You're perfectly free to like it! As long as you don't take me shopping with you (for six hours, *ahem* Tara and Jessie *ahem*)

But if you were to come ALL the way to Massachusetts then it'd HAVE to be a long mall trip. Otherwise you'd spend more time TRAVELLING than malling. And we all know what a tragedy THAT would be. ^_~

Could you please explain to me what "commercialized secularism" is? Because I know what they are seperately. But together? I thought all commercialism was evil and degrading? at least to me.

I can't vouch 100% for what Andy meant, but I think we both would define it something like, the mall (and really, pretty much anywhere, it's just that the mall's really big,) takes all these secular things and puts them in shiny wrappers. The clothing, attitudes, advertising, everything is basically taking things that the world prizes and making them look distractingly sparkly.

Andy wouldn't say "sparkly" or such things, but I think that's how it shakes out.
